AK74 Weapon Guide

The AK74 is the traditional first rifle purchase of the Assault track at $1,600 — the gun most players buy the day they decide the free starters are beneath them. It is a fine rifle. That sentence is also the entire problem: the Early Access math has produced something cheaper that fights above it.

Buy it if the ergonomics suit you and the $1,000 premium over the T-21 feels worth a familiar feel — but go in knowing the community consensus rates it a pricing casualty, not a performance one. The AK74's honest role in the current economy is the rifle you run while leveling Assault toward the Level 35 FAL, on days the bank should not risk more.

C tier in the Season 1 list, and the textbook example of how the tier is graded: the $600 T-21 does the same job for 63% less cash, so the AK74 pays a $1,000 familiarity tax. The upgrades are directional — the M4 ($2,800) buys fire rate, the FAL ($6,500) buys the ceiling — and the T-21 simply wins the value column outright.
